How to Build or Improve Your Credit Score

Build a healthier credit profile through reliable payments, manageable balances, accurate reporting and patient credit use.

1. Repay as agreed

Pay card bills and loan instalments by due dates. If possible, pay card statement balances in full. Use reminders and funded autopay to prevent avoidable operational misses.

Tip: Good payment systems prevent avoidable mistakes.

2. Keep revolving balances manageable

Avoid regularly using most of your card limits. If you cannot pay the statement without borrowing elsewhere, the problem is debt management rather than score optimisation.

Tip: Manage debt first; score improvement follows healthier behaviour.

3. Apply only when credit has a real job

Unnecessary applications create enquiries and accounts you may not need. A healthy credit mix develops naturally; you do not need several loans merely to manipulate a score.

Note: Use credit because the product is useful, not because of an internet score hack.

4. Keep the file accurate and give improvement time

Review reports, correct genuine errors and allow consistent good behaviour to build history. Be cautious with anyone promising instant deletion of accurate negative information.

Note: Accurate negative history cannot simply be erased for a fee.
