Stop the loss. Report it now.

If money moved without your permission, act immediately. You do not need to investigate first or wait for the bank to open.

GainFair will never ask for your card number, account number, CVV, PIN, OTP, password or UPI PIN. Nothing is entered or stored here.

Money already moved

Do these now. If someone trustworthy is with you, split the calls.

  1. 1

    Call 1930

Give the bank or wallet name, transaction ID, amount, date/time and the account or UPI details involved.

  2. 2

Notify your bank and block access

Use the bank’s own app, the number on the back of another card, or the verified directory below. Report every unauthorised transaction and ask for a complaint number.

  3. 3

    Complete the cybercrime report

Use cybercrime.gov.in and retain the acknowledgement. Follow any instruction sent after the 1930 call.

  4. 4

    Save evidence

Keep transaction alerts, screenshots, phone numbers, chat messages, emails and call times. Do not delete the conversation yet.

Why speed matters: RBI’s customer-liability framework makes reporting time important. It does not guarantee a refund in every case, so report first and let the bank investigate. Read RBI guidance

Card lost or stolen

  • Misplaced nearby? Temporarily freeze it in the issuer’s app if that option exists.
  • Stolen, exposed or truly lost? Permanently block/hotlist it and request a replacement.
  • Review recent transactions and separately report anything you do not recognise.
  • Keep the block confirmation and complaint/reference number.

Phone lost or stolen

  1. 1. Call your mobile operator from another phone to block the SIM and request a replacement.
  2. 2. Secure financial access. Call your banks if the phone had banking or UPI apps. Change your primary email and banking passwords from a trusted device.
  3. 3. Lock the device remotely using the phone maker’s official find-device service.
  4. 4. File a police report, then block the IMEI through the Government of India CEIR service.

Suspicious call or message, but no loss

  • Stop the conversation. Do not click the link, scan a QR code, install an app or share your screen.
  • Contact the organisation by opening its app or typing its official website yourself.
  • Report a suspected fraud call, SMS or WhatsApp message through Chakshu.
Report on official Chakshu

If any money moved, do not use Chakshu as the only report. Call 1930 and report at cybercrime.gov.in.

Verified issuer directory

Find your card issuer

Call or open the issuer-owned page. These contacts are for blocking cards and reporting fraud, not sales.

After the immediate reports

  • Write down every complaint number, acknowledgement, date, time and channel used.
  • Ask the bank how to submit the transaction dispute and any police or cybercrime acknowledgement it requires.
  • Monitor the affected account, email and mobile number. Change reused passwords and review beneficiaries or mandates you do not recognise.
  • If the bank does not resolve the complaint or you are dissatisfied, use its grievance escalation first. RBI’s CMS is for escalation, not the first emergency call.

Primary official sources

National actions are based on the Ministry of Home Affairs’ National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, RBI customer-protection guidance, NPCI’s UPI complaint guidance and the Department of Telecommunications’ Sanchar Saathi services. Issuer details are linked beside every entry above. Contacts can change; if a call does not connect, open the linked issuer page or use the number printed on the back of another card or your latest statement.
